Working with Substance Misuse


A One Day Workshop. In the treatment of addictions and their psychological understanding, cognitive behavioural and motivational approaches have been at the forefront of good practice. This one day experiential workshop will provide participants with an understanding of how these approaches can be used with clients presenting with substance mis-use issues.

ITEP Training - ITEP 2010


A Two Day Workshop exploring a care planning approach (referred to as "mapping") in the form of a manual which is used by trained key-workers with clients. Research has shown that these psychosocial interventions had a number of positive outcomes in terms of client's experience of, and engagement with treatment. There were also reductions in illicit drug use. A must for anyone working in the drug and alcohol field.

Setting up a Private Practice

A one day workshop exploring issues to consider when setting up a private practice, whether you will be working from home or not.

Barriers, Defences & Resistance

A one day workshop exploring what different therapies mean by barriers,defences & resistance. Gaining an understanding of the functions of barriers, defences and resistance and how they relate to the aims and ethics of therapy.

Assessing clients for Private Practice


How we first meet and assess potential clients is a crucial element to the therapeutic relationship. This one day workshop explores how assessment can assist both helper and client get the most from their working relationship, by exploring risk, suitability and ways forward.

Boundaries & Ethics of the therapeutic relationship


What are the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship for both helper and client?, Why are they important?, how do we deal with breaches of the therapeutic space?, these questions and many more will be explored in this one day workshop.

Ethical Framework for Good practice in Counselling & Psychotherapy

This one day workshop will explore the thinking behind the BACP Ethical Framework (2002), not only in terms of avoiding malpractice, but of developing good practice. It will look at the type of conflicts between ethical principles that require ethical thinking and ethical judgements. A fun filled experiential day.
